Spray-Tek has been granted a U.S. patent for its biopolymer-based core/shell microencapsulation technology. Per the company, this advancement in particle engineering offers enhanced protection for encapsulated actives, such as fragrance oils, while maintaining the biodegradability of the polymer.

Durable Yet Permeable Microcapsules

The patented process modifies natural biopolymers to create durable core/shell microcapsules with low permeability. These capsules protect active ingredients while allowing microbes in the environment to break down the polymer over time.

“Our patented solution balances active protection with environmental sustainability,” said Jiten Dihora, chief technology officer at Spray-Tek. CEO Ray Rambowski noted this milestone reflects the company’s commitment to advancing microencapsulation technology.

Biodegradable Delivery Across Industries

The innovation has applications across industries including:

  • household care,
  • personal care and
  • agrochemical.

It provides a sustainable, high-performance delivery system that addresses growing consumer demands for eco-friendly solutions.
